Hi! I’m an award-winning writer, and I’ve spent the past few years writing about Black foodways throughout America, but particularly in Virginia and the greater South. In short, I write and talk about the intersection of race, culture, and food.

My latest project is serving as executive producer and host of Finding Edna Lewis, a documentary about the life and legacy of a chef who changed how Southern food was viewed in America through her work, and will be aired on broadcast television in February 2025.

I’m also the host and creator of Setting the Table, the critically acclaimed and mutli-award winning podcast that explores Black foodways and culinary history. It was named as by Apple Podcasts as “one of the shows we loved in 2022”, listed as a podcast to listen to by Tasting Table, and Texas Monthly wrote the podcast “explored topics they wished they had covered.” In 2023, Setting the Table won podcast of the year by IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals), and also won gold in the food and drink category at the Signal Awards.

I was recently named as a Black Women in Food, a Snailblazer by Slow Food USA, and one of the Most Powerful Richmonders of 2022.

My written work can be found in outlets such as Eater, Conde´ Nast Traveler, Food52, Modern Farmer, The Local Palate, Plate Magazine, Epicurious, Garden and Gun, Pit Magazine, Gravy, Southern Grit Magazine, and Gastro Obscura, and I’ve also been a cultural commentator for BBC Radio.

I live, work and podcast from Virginia, and am available to travel for speaking engagements and presentations-drop me a line, I’d love to hear from you!
